New Delhi, Aug 16 : A Delhi court on Wednesday denied anticipatory bail to an individual named Sonu, who stands accused of defrauding people through illegal collection of funds using the guise of the Government of India and the PM-KUSUM scheme.

Special Judge Gagandeep Singh presided over the case and ruled against granting anticipatory bail to Sonu, a resident of Nalanda district in Bihar.

The court also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to provide a five-day advance notice to Sonu if it intends to arrest him.

The judge’s decision was based on the assessment that, at the present moment, there seems to be no immediate risk of arrest. However, the court said that if the CBI concludes during its investigation that Sonu should be arrested, a five-day notice must be issued to him.

Furthermore, the judge ordered Sonu to actively participate in the investigation process and cooperate fully with the investigating officers as and when required.

The CBI opposed Sonu’s application for anticipatory bail, contending that he was the mastermind behind the fraudulent operation and had been uncooperative with their investigation efforts.

The prosecution’s case revolves around allegations that Sonu, along with his accomplices, established two counterfeit domains with the intent to deceive individuals into contributing funds under the pretense of supporting the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM Yojana).

The accused individuals allegedly employed fake websites and programmes to swindle victims across the nation by falsely claiming association with the Government of India and the PM-KUSUM scheme.
